Restaurants

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in Kalk Bay, and the following restaurants are highly recommended.

Olympia Café

This is a Kalk Bay institution. Of the good kind. With food of the great kind and waitrons of the interesting kind.

We love dogs. We don’t do reservations. Ever. Even for dogs. (oh, and the waiters can be bitches.)

The bakery is situated around the corner from the café selling delicious craft bread and sweet treats. You won’t miss the red door!

Kalky’s

An old-school fish and chips shop where the queue on weekends attests to the tastiness of the food.

You can eat inside or take your meal out onto the pier, but be careful of the vicious seagulls who have a taste for Kalky’s chips!

Fresh from the sea (caught on the owner’s boat) the blackboard menu brims with authentic fish and chips, deep fried calamari, Snoek and crayfish and prawns all served with rice or chips.

Expect generous portions and daily offers which can be enjoyed with an easy drinking house wine or beer watching trawlers at work and seals at play along the vibey Kalk Bay Harbour.

Situated on the water’s edge in the picturesque harbour of Kalk Bay, this branch boasts exquisite views of the working harbour, False Bay and the Hottentots Mountain Range.

Harbour House

Harbour House specialises in corporate functions, tour groups and wedding receptions – offering world-class cuisine and wine, beautiful décor and friendly, professional service.

Reservations recommended.

This is a venue and experience not to be missed. The theatre is small and intimate and it is renowned for its exciting, interesting, eclectic and fun shows.

The restaurant, situated in the mezzanine floor of the theatre is fantastic. The food is of a very high standard and the menu changes regularly.

Brass Bell

An institution in Cape Town – no visit is complete without a lazy lunch at Brass Bell.

Surrounded by the rolling waves, the restaurant complex of terraced dining areas, bars and beachfront decks is nestled into the tidal pool walls, and offers visitors an unforgettable and truly unique dining experience. The location and splendour of this magical place has captured the imagination and hearts of tourists and locals alike, and it is now a world renowned and well loved hotspot welcoming guests with warm hospitality and superb menu selections.

Reservations recommended.

Cape to Cuba

Cape to Cuba features authentic Cuban dishes with Cajun influences as well as punches of heat supplied by chilies. After dessert, you can dream of nights in far-off Havana while savouring the taste of a cigar.

The eclectic décor consists of an impressive hodgepodge of chandeliers, devotional objects, vases, and references to Ernest Hemingway and Che Guevara, the inspiration behind the name of the restaurant’s bar.

Live music every Saturday and Sunday from 16:00 – 19:00.
